Dr. Thomas Buchheit founded Triangle Regen Medicine & Biologics Center to bring scientifically based regenerative therapies to patients with painful conditions, including osteoarthritis, tendon and ligament injuries, and neuropathy.
His goal is to customize therapies for each patient and optimize each person's own healing potential. With over 20 years of research and clinical experience, Dr. Buchheit brings expertise as a former Chief of Pain Medicine and adjunct associate professor at Duke University.

Common questions about regenerative medicine treatments
Regenerative medicine is a branch of medicine that focuses on harnessing the body's own healing mechanisms to repair damaged tissues. At Triangle Regen Medicine, we use treatments like Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), the Regenokine® Program, and nerve hydrodissection to help patients heal naturally without surgery or long-term medications.
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy can treat a variety of musculoskeletal conditions including osteoarthritis (knee, hip, shoulder), tendon injuries (rotator cuff, tennis elbow, Achilles tendinopathy), ligament sprains, plantar fasciitis, and chronic joint pain. PRP uses concentrated platelets from your own blood to stimulate tissue repair and reduce inflammation.
The Regenokine® Program is an advanced regenerative therapy that uses autologous conditioned serum (ACS) and other healing components. Like PRP, ACS contains growth factors. ACS also has high concentrations of inflammation-resolving proteins such as Interleukin-1 Receptor Antagonist (IL-1Ra) and exosomes. Research studies have shown that the exosomes in ACS carry out many of the longer-term pain-relieving benefits of the treatment. Dr. Buchheit is one of the few physicians in the United States offering this therapy.
Most regenerative treatments, such as PRP and the Regenokine® Program, are not currently covered by insurance. However, our initial consultation and diagnostic services may be covered depending on your plan. We provide detailed cost information upfront and can provide a statement of services if you wish to submit to your insurance company. Many patients find that the cost of regenerative therapy compares favorably to the long-term costs of surgery, medications, and ongoing pain management.
Results vary by treatment and condition. Some patients notice improvement within 2-4 weeks, while optimal results typically develop over 2-3 months as tissues heal and regenerate. Regenerative treatments work by initiating a healing response, which takes time. During your consultation, Dr. Buchheit and his team will discuss realistic expectations for your specific condition and treatment plan.
Nerve hydrodissection is an ultrasound-guided procedure used to treat nerve entrapment conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, and other peripheral neuropathies. Using real-time ultrasound imaging, Dr. Buchheit injects fluid around the entrapped nerve to gently separate it from surrounding tissues, reducing compression and relieving symptoms. This minimally invasive procedure offers an alternative to surgical nerve release.
